Painting & decorating association mark of quality

The eyes of the world were on the US Ambassador’s residence, Winfield House, in London’s Regent Park recently, when President Trump and US First Lady, Melania Trump, stayed there during their UK State Visit.

But in advance of the presidential visit, the expert restoration skills of The Invisible Painter were called into urgent action. The historic and richly detailed interiors of the Grade II listed, Regency-style house include an extensive collection of fine art and beautiful large wall murals. Following water damage to one of the murals, we were required to carry out a highly specialised restoration task which would have to be completed over just one weekend.

Water damaged mural wall in listed building

Our incomparable skills and knowledge of the specialist materials and techniques required to restore period properties to their full magnificence were vital to ensure that this restoration was carried out to the highest possible specification, with all repairs invisible to the naked eye.

Painstaking care was taken to protect the environment surrounding the wall mural, situated adjacent to one of the majestic sweeping staircases. After meticulous preparations, our expert team installed a staircase scaffold tower to access the 8-metre high wall. To prevent any water stains from bleeding through to the surface, a blocking membrane was used  before the section containing the damaged mural was repainted and exquisitely restored to its former glory by professional mural artists.

Scaffolding for internal restoration

Drawing on our wealth of experience and understanding of the complexities of refurbishment work on grade listed and prestigious buildings, our team was able to achieve a truly exceptional result, while minimising any disruption to ongoing plans for the State visit.
